AH! YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED!

I’m honored that you’re interested in having me photograph your wedding!

This is going to be one of the biggest days of your life and— holy smokes-- the photography is such a huge part of it all. The photos are how you will remember the day on your first anniversary as well as on your fiftieth-- and they’re how your kids and grandkids will experience it.

Talk about pressure, right?

I want you to have the best photos for YOU, so I have to say that I may not be the best person to shoot your wedding.

The greatest gift I can give you is to fill you in on how I roll and what you can expect if we work together-- and let you decide if it resonates with you.

01_WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU?

you’ll love your day and photos best if you work with someone who has the same values.
so start by figuring out what those values are!

  • What do you want the vibe of the day to be? silly and fun? calm and peaceful?

  • Is it imporant to have a photographer who no one will notice (the fly-on-the-wall approach)? or do you want someone who adds energy to the day?

  • Do you care about getting ready photos? send-off photos? Are you obsessed with photos of stationery and details or more concerned with candids of friends?

  • How important is it to capture the happenings on the dance floor?

  • How important are having great bride and groom portraits? are you willing to work the schedule so there’s time to make magic happen?

02_WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO ME?

I try to shoot a wedding day as I would want mine shot. And I try to shoot it as authentically as possible.
(and no, that doesn’t mean not giving directions!

_PEOPLE FIRST
I’m more interested in photos of people giggling in corners than of the floral arrangements (but of course I’ll get those too!). Some photographers are amazing at the detail shots. I love them, but I’ll be honest that I’d say I’m just adequate. My strength is in photographing people.

_CAPTURE IT ALL
I have an ‘always be rolling’ policy because I love the in-between moments where people are cracking jokes or just being themselves because they don’t realize I’m snapping photos or rolling video. Many of these moments end up being soundbites for my short films.

_KEEP IT REAL
I once did photography alongside a videographer who made the couple repeat their first look MULTIPLE TIMES because he wanted to get different angles. It made me cringe so hard and I swore I’d never put someone through that. Instead, I anticipate and get in position to give myself the best chances of capturing the best angle, and after ten years, I’ve gotten pretty good at it. It’s worth preserving the magic of the day by letting things happen authentically and not manufacturing emotion.

_STAY IN IT TO THE END
Wedding days are exhausting. I’m feeling it by the toasts. But I was once called a ‘work horse’ (which I found horrifying at the time but now I see it as a compliment) and I choose to strategically rest (I’ve been caught doing yoga in a back room during dinner) so I don’t have to cut corners or call it a night until I’m sure I’ve got everything we need to fully tell the story of the day.

TEAM WORK

〰️

TEAM WORK 〰️

_TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
Had to make a scrolly bar for this one because it is SO IMPORTANT. I consider myself part of the team that YOU put together-- which means I focus on my role but I’m going to do what I can to help the the other vendors and not make their jobs harder. We all should have the ultimate goal to deliver the best work possible and help each other out when we can.

03_THE EXPERIENCE

What’s it like to work with me? It’s an experience, hopefully an incredibly positive one.

I want you to have photos that you love but I also want you to remember the experience of the day as fun and flexible and real.

Communication is soooo important-- from the very start of the day, I introduce myself and try to let people know what I’m aiming for and give them a sense of my vibe so I’m not just a rando taking pictures of them doing their makeup or putting their tie on. I genuinely like meeting people and putting them at ease and try hard to balance the fly-on-the-wall observer vibe with the fact that if someone cracks a great joke I’m gonna laugh along, too.

I’ll never tell you to ‘just laugh.’ I’ll try to give a prompt that gets you laughing. Then I get a gorgeous laughing photo and you got to experience a genuinely funny moment, not a stiff or awkward one.

I SOLEMNLY SWEAR TO NEVER LEAVE YOU HANGING

〰️

I SOLEMNLY SWEAR TO NEVER LEAVE YOU HANGING 〰️

If I was photographing a friend’s wedding there would be no such thing as “not my job,” I’d pick up slack and help out where needed to make things run smoothly-- so let’s be friends!

Before any cameras are involved I’d love to chat over Facetime or Zoom and get to know you guys better so we’re not strangers!

04_ LOGISTICALLY

what to expect from me:

  • in the months leading up to the wedding I’ll send you a lot of resources:

    - a Wedding Compass
with pages of pages of info ammassed over my years of shooting weddings. It includes sample timelines, tips for best light, and so much more.

    - Likeable Vendors List
in case you need help finding good people to work with.

    - Timeline Planning
a few weeks before the wedding we’ll work out a schedule for your day that gives us ample time to get to and fro stress-free.

    - Beyond
I’m at your beckon call if you have questions or need advice about things.

  • Getting Ready
It’s hard to ‘act natural’ with a camera around, so during getting ready time, I try to keep people relaxed by letting them know that I’m there, and by staying relaxed myself. I watch and wait for beautiful (or hilarious) moments to unfold naturally.

    During portrait time:
Communication is key. I’ll give you an idea of what we’re aiming for before we even start shooting and I’ll give you tons of direction and feedback. I’ll never just leaving you hanging out there in front of the camera.

    Formal Group Photos
Family photos don’t have to be painful. These are the photos that get printed the MOST and they are the photos you’ll come to value more and more as the years go on and people pass on. I make this a painless and calm process by taking charge. I’m not afraid to stand on a chair to get everyone’s attention. I make sure people look great, are standing at flattering angles, then I get ‘em throwing their arms around eachother or talking-- like you guys are family.. cause you are.

    Ceremony
Once the ceremony gets going I go into ninja mode. I double up on cameras and sneak around covering the action and getting candids. Doing my best not to distract.

    The Party
During the reception, I’ll light things beautifully and cover the happenings, but I’m really focusing on the interactions and silliness I see. I know not everyone is a dancer, so I go around to the tables of seated people and get group shots. For those on the dance floor, I genuinely try to have fun myself so people forget I’m a photographer and really dance how they would if a photographer wasn’t watching (that’s my secret sauce for those wild dance floor photos).

  • PREVIEWS
I deliver ~100 images as a Preview set around 48 hours after the wedding. I’ve tried to do the “10 images in 24 hours” but I prefer to give a larger gallery so you REALLY get a sense of what the full gallery will be like.

    FULL GALLERY
The full gallery will be delivered in 4-6 weeks depending on the season and the average number of edited images for a full 8ish hour day is ~1000. I use editing software to help me apply my presets and straighten, but each image is hand-edited by me (because I’m a control freak and obsessed with color tones feeling right).

PACKAGE OPTIONS

I HAVE ONLY EVER DONE ‘FULL DAY COVERAGE’ AND I PREFER IT THAT WAY.

I don’t like the idea of trying to squeeze the day into a certain number of hours— whose wedding ever went exactly as scheduled?

Being ‘full day’ helps me to focus on the happenings, and it helps you to just relax and enjoy the day without having to worry about me taking off before something important, or feel like you have to squish the day into a short time frame.

We’ll work together on making a timeline that fits the main happenings into 8-9 hours of coverage, but if you book me, I’m there.

Every day is different, so timing varies, but I’ll arrive in the middle of the getting ready process and stay until either you have a formal send-off, or until I’m confident we are SWIMMING in reception/dance floor photos.

06_VIDEO (?)

I GET ASKED A LOT ABOUT WHETHER VIDEO IS ‘WORTH IT’

I usually start by saying this: When I am editing wedding photos, there are a lot of moments that make me smile. When I am editing video, there are a lot of moments that make me cry. And I wouldn’t characterize myself as a particularly weepy person. There really is something magical about moving picture. Think about flipping through your phone remembering your last trip with friends. The photos? So great to have. But if you find a video with people talking about something sweet or silly in the background or happen to catch a hilarious moment or interaction-- IT IS GOLD.

So these are the PROS. You have moments and personalities captured for life.

The CONS? It can be a pricey add-on to an already very-expensive day and it means more cameras. Too many cameras can make the day feel more like a production than an intimate affair and for more introverted couples it might be a nightmare. I do my best to minimize both of these in a couple ways:

01

My husband is my videographer for my larger package (wedding short film), so we are tucked in close for most of the day and very much unified in our approach to be low key and easygoing with everyone. We strategize the coverage and camera placements and split duties when possible.

02

The smaller video package is a highlight film shot by myself and another shooter capturing photo AND video. So for a lot of the day a room might only have one photo/video person in it. This is a cost-effective way to still have video of the day, without the production-feel and price tag of a full video package.

_VIDEO OPTIONS

01_THE HIGHLIGHT FILM

As it sounds, this cutie film is a compilation of snippets of footage captured by Glory (that’s me, hi!) and another photographer/videographer both shooting hybrid (which yes, means shooting photo and video. It seems crazy but technology is crazy these days and I promise it works out great!).

At 3ish minutes, the film is cut to licensed music (with a bit of the captured audio if it fits the vibe) in a fairly straightforward start-to-finish compilation of the behind-the-scenes and the main events of the day.

Very shareable, a great option for couples who want some video coverage to remember the day.

02_THE WEDDING SHORT FILM

Beyond just capturing the events of the day, you’ll have a dedicated videographer considerately filming with production in mind.

This short film is packed with meaning and storytelling— using captured audio (of speeches, vows, chats throughout the day) we’ll tell your story and highlight the happenings of the day.

In 4-6 minutes, with 2-3 licensed songs, we’ll eleganty layer all the heartfelt and hilarious moments into a watchable (and re-watchable) film that is truly unique to each couple.

“TRUE HOME MOVIE”
AKA RAW FOOTAGE

Both film packages include this film so no matter which one you choose you’ll have access to THE WHOLE DAY (or at least what we filmed of it!)

In the spirit of the old home movies we all love, this film is a straight compilation of the raw footage of the day as captured by the photographer/videographers and the various tripods we’ll have set up.

I’ll include every clip (except obvious outtakes) and the full length tripod footage of the ceremony as well as the formal events and speeches at the reception. Aaaaand of course too much fun dancing footage.

FAQs

  • Ultimately, my ideal clients are just people who love art and personal connections. Who are willing to get a little weird, embrace some crazy, and have a good time.

  • I’ll have a heavy gallery of previews for you ~48 hours after your wedding, and then the full set finished in 4-8 weeks. I’ll be in touch and let you know when you should be able to expect them, but t I tend to obsess and it’s really not something any of us wants to rush. These photos are forever. <3

  • I sort for the best and aim to edit and deliver ~800 photos, but every wedding day is different and my average lately has been ~1000. Ultimately, I’ll include everything that I would want if it were my wedding. :)

  • Oh, yeah. I got bit by that bug. I do my best to minimize travel fees, but it all depends on the location. Let’s talk about it!

  • Most people who think they’re not “photogenic” just haven’t worked with a professional who truly understands LIGHT and ANGLES and who is happy to show you the back of the camera so you can see in real time how amazing you look. Please give me the chance to show you that you MIGHT JUST BE DANG PHOTOGENIC!

  • 50% of the total cost is due upon contract signing, with the second half due a week before the wedding. If this is an issue please let me know, it’s no problem for me to set up a different payment timeline for you.
