what it’s like to work with me?

A camera around is uncomfortable for most people and I think it’s best to address it directly. I introduce myself, I give spiels so people know what’s expected of them.
I aim to build trust quickly so everyone loosens up— and starts interacting naturally.

THAT’S when those wonderful candid moments happen and I take that fly-on-the-wall approach.

I didn’t know this until hearing some horror stories, but there are photographers out there who see the wedding day as their opportunity to add to their portfolio.

I don’t. Because your day is not about me! I will always jump at the opportunity to add value on a wedding day.

I treat every wedding with the same care and attention that I would want shown at mine— or my best friend’s.

I want you to have the best dang photos possible, which means I take advantage of every beautiful lighting opportunity and rally at the end of the night to stay on the dance floor to capture that wild magic.

I’ve been shooting weddings for 8 years (!!!) and you can ask anyone who’s been in the field for awhile— there’s a difference between a second-year photographer and a tenth-year photographer.

It’s not actually that hard to take beautiful photos. What’s hard is maneuvering the sometimes tiny and sometimes massive obstacles (timelines! weather! crazy lighting! crazy family!) that arise on a wedding day.

I am constantly leaning on my past experiences and I know I’m far more adept at helping the day run smoothly today than I was five years ago.

I ask ahead of time if there are any awkward relationships to be on the lookout for, but sometimes unexpected things come up, especially with family.

I just don’t let it get weird.

I’m not afraid to take charge and coordinate people (with a sweet smile of course) and get through awkward moments quickly so we can get back to good times.

I genuinely like people and it’s a fun perk of photography that I get to jump into someone else’s friend group or family for a day. I try to add to the fun and not be a wet blanket or just sOoOo professional that people can’t relax and goof off around me :)
