Alexis + Jacob | A California Mountain Elopement

In classic 2020 form, these two decided to elope in Yosemite with their closest friends and family— only to have wildfires ignite the week before their elopement date.
At this point, they could have cancelled it all.
They almost did.
The air quality was treacherous in the few days before the wedding and Yosemite was all but closed… We went back and forth and spent a lot of time on the phone talking through other options, but in the end they decided to go for it. The worst case scenario was that we’d hold all the events indoors at their beautiful mountaintop Airbnb in Oakhurst, California. It’s not El Capitan, but it's still a a really pretty Airbnb.
As it turned out, the day of the wedding was clear. Mountains in the distance that had been obscured by smoke the day before were visible— and gorgeous. We still couldn’t go to Yosemite, but the nearby town of Oakhurst and Bass Lake were gorgeous and we couldn’t have asked for better weather or a more lively (*cough* rowdy) group of cats to celebrate with. I loved getting to follow these two around all day and make magic on the mountainsides.
